BatRep Team-Tournament 1.500 pts.

Nobody was happy about this unholy alliance. The Blood Angels had to stay calm in order to avoid ripping their allies apart. But the chapter needed some bucks to "buy" new recruits. My Tyranids decided to devour the bio-mass after the tournament and so we started to plan our unholy pact we would unleash on our dear enemies. So the swarm brooded its "planetfall army" with a flyrant, 2 zoas in pod, 10 termas in pod, tervigon, 3x10 genestealers and a trygon. The Blood Angels decided to play a deep striking army consisting of a scriptor, furioso cybot in pod, sanguinius priest, 2x10 stormmarines, 10 tacticals in redeemer and a stormraven.

Establishing a safe landing zone, the alliance first met the imperium and space marines consisting of lots of vehicles. The battle startet with the loyalists moving around in order to deny tactically precious landing space, but didn´t count on us concentrating our forces to just one flank with annoying destractions from the other table edge. Most Blood Angels decided to stay in orbit and arrived just at the end of the battle, but in the meanwhile the swarm let the loyalists pay a bloody toll by outflanking from all possible directions and killing one unit after another. Not bred for close combat, the Tervigon concentrated on enemy vehicles and could destroy 3 of them, regenerating many wounds in the firestorm it encountered. At the end of the planetfall, the alliance lost 4 units, while the loyalists left 14 units dead or dying on the field.

Next step for the alliance was to expand in enemy territory with the goal of getting their command bunker and hold ours. This time they met 2 deamons armies with giant soulgrinders, a blood deamon and a lot of lesser deamons. So the alliance decided to take the initiative and deploy as many as it could, but keeping some genestealers, zoas and jumptroops in reserves. The air seemed to melt as the deamons entered the real world and began their evil work by killing and slaughtering. Many monstrous tyranids bled from various, which were healing very, very slow. Fighting with each bit of cunning, feint and hoax the alliance tried everything it could. But the enemy was strong. Strong on numbers and strong on strategy & tactics. Ignoring 20 bloodletters which were to far to be a threat for our mission objectives, the alliance considered it wiser to sacrifice its units by initialising a mass attack on 20 other bloodletters which threathened a command bunker and extinguished the whole deamonic unit. At the end ot the day it seemed to be a draw between 4 capable generals, but the Tervigon brooded 14 termagaunts which ran to our own occupied command bunker, just to be charged by 6 deamonettes. Inspired by their kin, which shot the bloodthirster back to warp, the termagaunts fought brave and 2 of them survived do deny the daemonic control of our command bunker. But the battle was over and the alliance was stil in posession of one bunker and saved the day.

One battle left to achieve an all over victory. And this time it were 2 Orc armies with some bots, lots of pikk-ups and boys, a battletank and 2 units bossbikers. The battle was fierce and streched on both table edges. The Orcs and the alliance fought for three important strategical points spread on the table. From the beginning the greenskins held one of this objectives, which should remain theirs until the end of the game. The other two were in the middle of attention of both sides. On the western objective the greenskins tried to get hold, but were refused by fierce attacks of the Blood Angels and some unexpected destractions from suddenly appearing genestealers. With the last rays of light that day, a land raider redeemer came finally in from reserves and parked just on the strategical point. The 10 tactical marines within held this objective and caused a draw. But on the eastern front the stormraven, 20 genestealers, flyrant and trygon prime were assaulted by wave after wave of greenskins. 3 bots, 3 pikk-ups with 36 boyz, 3 koptaz and a waaaghboss with 6 bossbikers rained down on the allied forces. Killing wave after wave, the alliance lost more and more of its soldiers and at the end only a half dead trygon and 4 genestealers remained versus 3 bots and some immobile or destroyed pikk-ups. The trygon charged the bots and killed 2 of them, but it was not enough, with one bot standing and denying the objective. So the last 4 genestealers were forced to charge the bot and hope to get him destroyed. 2 glancing hits and 2 lucky punches just into the driver cabin the bot was history and the genestealers repositioned on the strategical point and won the battle for the glory of the swarm.

Andy and I were placed first among 8 teams and 16 players. The next thing the swarm will do is get rid of this ridiculous ally and claw some more bio mass.

Things I´ve learned:
- as always, keep an eye on the victory conditions
- in a game I assaulted premature which almost ended in a draw vs deamons, which after all allowed them to move to the MO using the massacre movement. So sometimes its better not to charge, even though you´re sure to win. Lady fortuna sometimes may not look at you in benevolence and you get slaughtered, opening a possibility for your opponent to turn lost game in a draw/win.
- take a look at your opponent and try to estimate his capability as general. In 1 on 1 games its more difficult as in a 2 on 2 game where you can hear the guy´s advices and judge his cunning. So you can decide to make some feints or not.
